Breastfeeding for New Moms
Q. How can I breastfeed my baby in public without exposing myself?
A. Breastfeeding mothers today have many privacy choices available to them. The simplest way to ensure privacy is to use a sling while you nurse. Wearing your baby in a sling helps to calm and soothe them. Many sling styles make it easy to nurse discretely.
A Moby Wrap baby carrier holds baby very closely to you while covering them in cloth. With a bit of practice you can nurse your baby while wearing a Moby Wrap without anyone noticing. A ring sling provides a long tail you can use as a blanket to cover your nursing baby.
For breastfeeding privacy without a sling you may wish to use a breastfeeding blanket or nursing poncho. A breastfeeding blanket is a small blanket with a strap that goes around your neck, this way even an active baby can't pull the blanket off. Many breastfeeding covers include a special neckline that allows you to see the baby for latch on and the all important eye contact without allowing anyone else to see the baby.
A nursing poncho is just like the typical ponchos you see, but it has a larger neckline so you can discretely look at your baby without anyone else seeing more of you!
